旧正月
今日は台湾の旧正月初日です。
皆様、新年おめでとうございます。ご多幸とご多幸をお祈り申し上げます。今年の正月休みが長いので、ご家族とご一緒に充実した時間を過ごしている方が多いのではないでしょうか。
ところで、私たちにとってこれほど身近な日本が、なぜ12月31日に新年を祝うのか、疑問に思ったことはありませんか？そして、他のアジアの国々ではどのように新年を祝うのでしょうか？
日本では、明治5年、西暦を採用し正月を旧暦から現在の元日に変更したようです。その理由の一つに、この年が閏月（1年13ヵ月）のある年だったことが関係しているようです。西暦（1年12ヵ月）に変えることで、公然と給与を1ヵ月分カットできるという財政削減の狙いがあったとか。。
韓国：旧正月
家族が集まり、茶道が行われ、歳を重ねる象徴として餅入りのスープ（トッポッキ）を食べる伝統があります。
タイ：ソンクラーン（タイ正月）4月
仏像に祝福と敬意を表すために水を掛け合い、街全体が水かけ祭りの場と化します。
ベトナム：旧正月
花火、龍舞、獅子舞などが披露され、盛大なお祭り気分が盛り上がります。
国も文化も様々ですが、平和で豊かな新年を願う気持ちは皆同じです。

Today marks the first day of the Lunar New Year in Taiwan.
Happy New Year to you all. May you enjoy abundant happiness and prosperity. With this year's extended holiday period, many of you are likely spending fulfilling time with your families.
Incidentally, have you ever wondered why Japan, a country so close to us, celebrates the New Year on 31st December? And how do other Asian countries celebrate the New Year?
In Japan, the Gregorian calendar was adopted in Meiji 5 (1872), shifting the New Year from the lunar calendar to the current January 1st. One reason for this change appears to be that this particular year featured a leap month (13 months in a year). It is said that switching to the solar calendar (12 months per year) aimed to reduce fiscal expenditure by eliminating the need to pay a full month's salary.
Korea: Lunar New Year
Families gather, tea ceremonies are held, and there is a tradition of eating rice cake soup (tteokbokki) as a symbol of growing older.
Thailand: Songkran (Thai New Year) April
People splash water on each other to show blessings and respect to Buddha statues, transforming the entire city into a water-splashing festival.
Vietnam: Lunar New Year
Fireworks, dragon dances, and lion dances are performed, creating a grand festive atmosphere.
