ジャイアントパンダ
根據各方媒體報導，上野動物園的雙胞胎大熊貓「曉曉」與「蕾蕾」，預計將於 2026 年 1 月下旬送還中國。東京都雖然多次希望延長飼養與研究合作，但目前尚未獲得同意。
若沒有新的租借安排，日本國內的大熊貓數量將正式歸零，這將是近半世紀以來首次發生的情況。

「日本ではもうジャイアントパンダを見られなくなる!!!」
上野動物園の双子パンダ「シャオシャオ」と「レイレイ」は、2010年に東京都と中国野生動物保護協会が締結した保護研究協力協定に基づき2026年1月下旬に中国へ返還される予定です。当初の飼育期間は2011年2月から2021年2月までの10年間で、その後5年間延長され、最終返還期限は2026年2月20日となっています。
東京都は飼育・研究協力の延長を繰り返し希望してきましたが、現時点では同意を得られていません。このまま新たな貸与契約が結ばれない場合、日本国内のジャイアントパンダは正式にゼロとなります。これは半世紀ぶりの事態です。彼らが去れば、上野動物園でお馴染みの行列や、ガラス越しにパンダが竹を食べる愛らしい光景は、思い出の中にしか残らないかもしれません。。
これまで、筆者はパンダ見たさに何度も動物園を訪れ、写真を撮りまくってきました。だから今後上野動物園にパンダがいなくなるかもしれないと思うと、やはり少し寂しい気持ちになる！個人的には日本の旅行会社が台北市立動物園訪問を含む台湾3泊2日ツアーを企画すれば良いと思う。台湾の観光収入増加と日本のパンダ愛好家の渇望解消という一石二鳥の効果があるのでは？どう思いますか？
【English】Giant pandas will no longer be seen in Japan!!!
The twin pandas at Ueno Zoo, ‘Xiao Xiao’ and ‘Lei Lei’, are scheduled to be returned to China in late January 2026, based on the conservation and research cooperation agreement signed in 2010 between the Tokyo Metropolitan Government and the China Wildlife Conservation Association. The initial loan period was for ten years, from February 2011 to February 2021, subsequently extended for five years, with the final return date set for 20 February 2026.
The Tokyo Metropolitan Government has repeatedly sought to extend the breeding and research cooperation, but has not yet obtained agreement.
Should no new loan agreement be concluded, Japan will officially have zero giant pandas within its borders. This would mark the first such occurrence in half a century. Once they depart, the familiar queues at Ueno Zoo and the endearing sight of pandas eating bamboo behind glass may exist only in memory.
I have visited the zoo numerous times just to see the pandas, snapping countless photographs. So, the thought that Ueno Zoo might soon be without pandas does leave me feeling rather sad!
Personally, I think Japanese travel agencies should organise a 3-night, 2-day tour to Taiwan that includes a visit to Taipei City Zoo. Wouldn't that kill two birds with one stone – boosting Taiwan's tourism revenue while satisfying the craving of Japanese panda enthusiasts? What do you think?
