「酉の市」
毎年11月、多くの神社で夜間に「酉の市」と呼ばれる祭りが行われます。この伝統は江戸時代、一年の守護と豊作への感謝を捧げる行事として浅草の大鷺神社で始まりました。
この祭りで売られる代表的な品と言えば「熊手（くまで）」です。収穫期に使われる農具の一つで、落ち葉や作物を「かき集める」機能から、一掻きで幸運や富を掻き集められるという信仰が生まれました。祭りの会場では、色鮮やかで装飾が施された熊手が多くの観光客を惹きつけます。最も一般的なデザインは、招き猫や大黒天、恵比寿などの福の神々を組み合わせたものです。購入時には店主が、三本締めのリズムで手拍子をして祝福するので、非常に活気あふれる雰囲気となります。

In Japan, every November, many shrines hold a festival known as the Tori no Ichi at night. This tradition began at Ōsagi Shrine in Asakusa during the Edo period as an event to offer thanks for the year's protection and a bountiful harvest.
The representative item sold at this festival is the “kumade” (rake). Originally an agricultural tool used during harvest season, its function of “raking together” fallen leaves and crops gave rise to the belief that a single sweep could rake in good fortune and wealth. At the festival grounds, colourful, ornately decorated kumade attract many tourists. The most common designs combine lucky deities such as Maneki-neko (beckoning cats), Daikokuten, and Ebisu. When purchasing one, the shopkeeper blesses the transaction by clapping in rhythm to the sanbon-shime (three-fold clap), creating a highly vibrant atmosphere.
